RETAIL store Outdoors on Parade has won the Global Innovator Award for innovation and merchandising excellence in homewares' retailing in Australia. Outdoors on Parade will now represent Australia in the world awards in Chicago in March 2011. Owner Annie Lovejoy said it was a huge honour to be recognised on an international retail level. "The fact that we won it over stores in the eastern states and will now be recognised among the best of the best internationally is incredibly thrilling," she told Indaily. Judges praised Outdoors on Parade for its visionary approach to homewares, superior service and ability to create a retail experience. The store opened in 1983 originally to sell outdoor furniture. It has since evolved to offer homewares and gifts, a cooking school, interior design service, wedding registry and online store. Mrs Lovejoy will be flown to Chicago next March for the global awards at the International Home and Housewares Show where she will be up against the very best homewares retailers in the world.
